I think the transitional character of AIESEC makes it very dynamic and hence complex to understand.
The prominent features also change with the change in the leadership.
Ideally members should be driven by the purpose and values of the organisation, and be self motivated; but unfortunately when people are driven by glamour and power then politics becomes more prominent.
I am sure you dont need examples ;-)

Politics in @ doesnot make sense, at first glance.
Practically speaking, wherever humans exist, politics exists as politics is nothing but another word for insecurity or human tendency for shortcut to hardwork.
Politics in @ is an even bigger given as it is a people's organisation.
Only one element is contradictory here and that is "YOUTH".
